How to File a Claim

Document the loss, protect property from further damage, and notify your insurer quickly.

  1. File police/fire report if applicable and get claim number from the insurer.
  2. Take photos/video of damages before cleanup.
  3. List damaged items with approximate values and receipts if possible.
  4. Keep receipts for temporary housing and extra meals.

Appeals

If a claim is partially paid or denied, review the cited clause, provide additional context, and request supervisor review or appraisal where available.
