Current policy documents
The declarations page, policy form, endorsements, exclusions, and renewal notices are the primary sources for what an individual renters policy covers.
State insurance departments
Insurance is regulated primarily at the state level. Use the state regulator for licensing, consumer complaints, state-specific coverage questions, and official contacts.
Flood insurance
Standard renters policies generally do not substitute for a separate flood policy. FEMA’s FloodSmart resources explain flood insurance options for renters.
