Why averages are not rankings
National, state, or city averages can be useful context but are not personalized quotes. A lower premium can reflect different coverage assumptions, underwriting, discounts, or deductibles.
Provider checks
Provider pages do not assign a star score. They direct readers to current carrier materials and independent consumer resources.
- Identify the underwriting insurer on the quote.
- Confirm state availability.
- Review complaint/licensing information when useful.
- Record claim and policy-service channels.
The comparison unit
Every quote should use the same renter, address, effective date, personal-property limit, liability limit, deductible, and valuation method before price is compared.
- Personal property limit.
- Actual cash value or replacement cost.
- Liability and medical payments.
- Loss of use / additional living expenses.
- Deductible.
- Sublimits and endorsements.
